When Jairus’ daughter became so sick he feared she would die, he sought help from Jesus. At this point in time, it’s likely that Jairus would have paid for medical help, but he was running out of options. Stories would have swirled around the city of the miracles that Jesus had performed – and that alone gave him hope enough to ask.
Jesus did not chastise Jairus for coming to him so late. He had sympathy for the father and cared for his daughter. On the way to Jairus’ home, his daughter died, but with His words, Jesus brought her back to life.
Would the daughter have been healed if Jairus didn’t ask Jesus? I doubt she would have. We need to ask Jesus for help, anytime, even if we should have asked Him first and we didn’t. Let’s tell our children that Jesus is always willing, no matter when we think to ask, He is waiting for permission to work in our lives.
