Passing the Test

When Daniel and his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were captured from Jerusalem, they were among the chosen few to be trained up to work in the courts of the king. This favor was an honor and one to be respected. But, when they were faced with eating the kings food, they did not want to defile themselves with it, and risked disrespecting the king in order to honor God.

Talk to your kids about how hard it would have been to refuse the king’s food, but how Daniel and his friends chose was what right and as a result God honored them for their obedience.
